This seminar is open to the public. It has been approved for 8.5 CLE credits, including 8.5 certification credits in City, County and Local Government Law; Real Estate; and State and Federal Government and Administrative Practice.

HalfMoon Education has applied to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for continuing education credit for surveyors and mappers (CE Provider No. CE81). The credit determination is anticipated at the February 15 board meeting. Current credit information can be found here.

Speakers:

Robert L. Chapman

Partner with Chapman Legal Group, P.A.
Since graduating Stetson University College of Law,Mr. Chapman has focused his practice on commercial real estate transactions, real estate litigation, land use, and commercial litigation. He and his wife recently started a law firm with a focus on transparency, integrity and adding value for the businesses and individuals they represent. Mr. Chapman is a past president of the Pinellas County Trial Lawyers’ Association, has recently earned the Pro Bono Service Award from the Supreme Court of Florida, and is involved in a number of charitable organizations, including sitting on the Board of the First Tee of Tampa Bay.

Jacob T. Cremer

Attorney with Stearns Weaver Miller, P.A.
Mr. Cremer’s practice focuses on counseling clients in their interactions with local, state, and federal governments on environmental, land use, water, and natural resources issues; working to protect clients’ property and civil rights, including several times before the United States Supreme Court; and helping large landowners on long-term strategic planning for their holdings. He began his law practice in Tallahassee, where he gained invaluable experience dealing with the legislative and regulatory processes of State government. He is a gubernatorial appointee to the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council and is a member of the Executive Council of The Florida Bar’s Environmental and Land Use Section. He holds J.D. and Master of Science in Urban Planning degrees from Florida State University.

Scott R. Fowler

Vice President, Landmark Engineering & Surveying Corporation
Mr. Fowler has been Landmark’s survey supervisor since 1989. He is responsible for the management of the day-to-day operation of the department, which includes all phasesof the survey process from field note interpretation to the legal aspects. He has helped establish many of the procedures and practices both in the field and office that define the “Landmark way of doing things.” His uncompromising exactness and attention to detail delivers a quality survey on time and on budget. He has a wide range of experience in all types of survey work involving calculations, estimates, and client relations as well as construction staking and platting. Mr. Fowler has over 30 years of survey related experience,all with Landmark, and is certified as Florida registered surveyor #5185.

Theodore J. Hamilton

Partner with Wetherington Hamilton, P.A.
After graduating from the University of Florida Law School in 1991, Mr. Hamilton went into private practice in Tampa, where he grew up. His practice concentrates on real estate law, association law, corporate law, estate planning and probate, commercial litigation, collections and secured transactions. Mr. Hamilton frequently speaks at events including the National Association of Credit Managers, the Electrical Manufacturers Credit Group Spring Meeting, the Community Association Institute and the Commercial Law League of America. He is involved in various charitable causes including Rotary International, Meals on Wheels, and the Boy Scouts of America, Gulf Ridge Counsel.

Danielle L. VanderGeeten

Associate with Davis Basta Law Firm, P.A.
Ms. VanderGeeten graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 2010 and obtained her LL.M. degree in Real Property Development from the University of Miami School of Law. She devotes her practice to litigation and transactional real estate law. In addition to her Florida bar membership, Ms. VanderGeeten is a member of Attorney’s Title Insurance Fund, the Bay Area Real Estate Council, the Clearwater Bar Association, and the Real Property and Probate Section of the Florida Bar, where she serves on the Landlord Tenant Committee. She received an award from the Supreme Court of Florida for exceptional pro bono service in 2015. Ms. VanderGeeten continues to volunteer with the Community Law Program and provides pro bono legal services at their housing clinics.
