Continuing Education Credit Information

This seminar is open to the public and offers 7.0 HSW continuing education hours to architects and 7.0 PDHs to professional engineers in California. Continuing education is not mandatory for license maintenance in California.

This seminar is approved by the American Institute of Architects for 7.0 HSW Learning Units (Sponsor No. J885). Partial attendance cannot be reported to the AIA.

Architects and engineers seeking continuing education credit in other states will be able to apply the hours earned at this seminar, in most cases. Refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

The International Code Council has approved this activity for .7 CEUsin the specialty area of Building.

This course also offers a 7.0 hour continuing education opportunity for construction contractors. Credit approval is not being sought in any state with a contractor continuing education requirement.

Attendance will be monitored, and attendance certificates will be available after the seminar for most individuals who complete the entire event. Attendance certificates not available at the seminar will be mailed to participants within fifteen business days.

Chief of Building Services and the Interim Deputy Director for the Resource Management Agency over Public Works, Parks and Facilities for the County of Monterey in California

Mr. Pereira is currently the Chief of Building Services and the Interim Deputy Director for the Resource Management Agency over Public Works, Parks and Facilities for the County of Monterey in California. As registered professional engineer in the state of California, he has spent the past thirty years of his career facilitating construction as a design engineer and city official. Mr. Pereira is also currently ICC certified as a plans examiner, building inspector, accessibility specialist and building official. His experience includes several jurisdictions including the County and City of Los Angeles, City of Glendale, City of Santa Monica, Temple City, and City of Pasadena, where he has served in various capacities ranging from plans examiner, inspector, Building Official and City Engineer. He was an adjunct professor for the College of the Canyons, teaching architecture, construction, and building codes. His service to his profession includes several years on the Board of Directors, culminating in President of the Los Angeles Basin Chapter of ICC. Mr. Pereira has served on the Administration Code Committee as Vice Chair, ICC's Technology Advisory Group and chaired the Higher Education Task Group for the Building Official’s Membership Council.  He currently serves on the CALBO State Licensing Boards Committee and has is a commissioner on the Monterey County Commission on Disabilities.  During the past fifteen years consistently attending ICC code hearings, Mr. Pereira has strived to raise the profile of the code official though building consistency, education, and participation of the membership.
