Continuing Education Credit Information

This seminar is open to the public and offers up to 7.0 continuing education hours to architects and landscape architects (HSW) and 7.0 continuing education hours to engineers in Virginia. Educators and courses are not subject to preapproval in Virginia.

This event has been approved by the American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System for 7.0 HSW Learning Units (Sponsor No. J885) and by the Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System for 7.0 HSW PDHs. Full attendance is required for course attendance reporting to AIA/CES and LA/CES.

Architects, landscape architects, and professional engineers seeking continuing education credit in other states will be able to apply the hours earned at this seminar, in most cases. Refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

The Association of State Floodplain Managers has approved this event for 7.0 CECs.

This course offers a non-credit continuing education opportunity to contraction contractors. It has not been preapproved in any state with contractor continuing education requirements.

Attendance will be monitored, and attendance certificates will be available after the seminar for most individuals who complete the entire program. Attendance certificates not available at the seminar will be mailed to participants within fifteen business days.

Thakur Dhakal, P.E.

Fairfax County
Mr. Dhakal is recognized as a leading stormwater management expert. His experience includes serving as a stormwater management expert in Land Development Services in Fairfax County Government, Virginia. He has 23 years of experience in hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, stormwater management plan review, policy making, and code interpretation, etc. Mr. Dhakal has developed and enforced stormwater management objectives related to land development activities through application of the principle and practice of engineering, policy, and research findings. He has reviewed, amended and implemented engineering standards as and when needed. Mr. Dhakal manages all aspects of stormwater management applications including BMPs, innovative practices, floodplains, dam standards, Chesapeake Bay preservation ordinances, MS4s, and TMDLs. He is a Virginia Department of Environmental Quality certified erosion and sediment control combined administrator and stormwater management combined administrator.
