Continuing Education Credit Information

This seminar is open to the public and offers a continuing education opportunity to California professional engineers, geologists, floodplain managers, and landscape architects. Continuing education is not required for license maintenance or renewal in California. Those seeking continuing education credit in other states will be able to apply the hours earned at this event, in most cases. Refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility. HalfMoon Education is an approved continuing education sponsor for engineers in Florida, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey (Approval No. 24GP00000700), New York (NYSED Sponsor No. 35), North Carolina, and North Dakota. The Association of State Floodplain Managers has approved this course for 7.0 CECs. This seminar is approved by the Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System for 7.0 HSW PDHs. Attendance will be monitored, and attendance certificates will be available after the seminar for most individuals who complete the entire event. Attendance certificates not available at the seminar will be mailed to participants within fifteen business days.


Chad Ballard, MS, PE

Alan Plummer Associates, Inc., Dallas, TX

Mr. Ballard is a licensed civil engineer holding bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering, and he has experience using a variety of hydrologic and hydrodynamic solvers and modeling platforms. In both an advisory and consulting role, Mr. Ballard has helped hundreds of engineering firms around the world apply different numerical modeling solutions to their specific projects. Currently, he is a consultant and project manager at Alan Plummer Associates, and he is a previous adjunct faculty member teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in hydrology and hydraulics. He is a past board member of the local chapter of the Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI), and he is involved with EWRI at the national level as part of the Calibration/Validation of Free-Surface Hydraulic Models Task Committee. Mr. Ballard also has been involved as a previous board member of the professional chapter of Engineers Without Borders (EWB) as well as being involved with other non-profit flood modeling work in developing countries.
