This live lecture presentation is open to the public and offers 7.0 PDHs to professional engineers, 7.0 HSW contact hours to landscape architects, and 7.0 HSW continuing education hours to architects. Educators and courses are not subject to preapproval in Ohio.

This seminar is approved by the Landscape Architect Continuing Education System for 7.0 HSW PDHs and the American Institute of Architects for 7.0 HSW Learning Units (Sponsor No. J885).

HalfMoon Education is an approved continuing education sponsor for engineers in Florida, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey (Approval No. 24GP00000700), New York (NYSED Sponsor No. 35), North Carolina, and North Dakota. Speakers:

David Gardner

Associate Professor, The Ohio State University
David Gardner is an associate professor of turfgrass science at The Ohio State University. He received a B.S. degree in Horticulture from Iowa State University in 1993, an M.S. degree in Horticulture from Iowa State in 1996 and a Ph.D. degree in Turfgrass Science from the University of Illinois in 2000. Professor Gardner teaches several undergraduate courses including turfgrass management, statistics, herbaceous and woody ornamental plants, and plant taxonomy. His research interests are in weed management and turfgrass shade stress physiology.

Kristina Granlund

Designer at MKSK Studios, Columbus
Ms. Granlund is a landscape designer at MKSK Studios in Columbus, Ohio. She is passionate about planting design and how people understand and relate to landscape, and her professional projects range in complexity from small urban spaces to campus master planning. Her academic interests included research on the use of textiles for flexible representation of rapidly shifting landscapes, and she is interested in the agency of design for uncovering hidden phenomena and creating novel interactions with the natural world. Combined with her experience with corporate and small business retail operations - including merchandising and graphic design – Ms. Granlund enjoys creating and discussing actionable information and ideas with a variety of audiences. Prior to graduate school and employment at MKSK, she was an Investigator at Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District in Cuyahoga Heights, Ohio, where she was responsible for industrial wastewater compliance, environmental monitoring, and emergency response to environmental and sewer system disturbances.

Ms. Granlund holds a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from The Ohio State University, a Master of Business Administration degree from Baldwin Wallace University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and Environmental Science from Miami University. She was also a nationally-ranked high jumper for the Miami University Women’s Track and Field team.
