All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.


Certificates of completion will be provided for each webinar attended and will be sent via email in PDF form about five business days after the conclusion of the series.

Ibraheem Shunnar

Ibraheem Shunnar is Director of Engineering at The Mannik & Smith Group. He has more than 25 years of experience in geotechnical engineering with expertise in specialty foundations, ground improvement, slope stability, instrumentation and waste management. Mr. Shunnar has a master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Michigan and is a registered professional engineer. He is the author of many articles and papers on geotechnical engineering. He was the project manager for the Fairlane Green redevelopment project, winner of the 2008 National Phoenix Award. He is also the recipient of the distinguished achievement award from the University of Michigan.

Course Description: This 1.5 hour live lecture webinar examines issues an solutions common to foundations on expansive soils, stratified soils, and on slope retaining and basement walls, excavation and grading, dewatering and drainage, surface preparation, and compliance with building codes.

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to describe issues and solutions common to foundation design and construction on expansive soils, stratified, and on-slope.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to describe design and construction strategies for foundations on slopes.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to discuss strategies to maintain slope stability on building sites, how ro properly dewater and drain sites to increase the integrity of the foundation and success of the structure that is on the foundation.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to identify certain surface preparation and verification techniques for foundations, and they will be able to identify, and comply with, applicable building code requirements for foundations.
