How to Design a Steel-Framed Stairway

   This session provides general guidance for the design and layout of steel
   elements for steel framed stairways, guards, handrail and related components.
   Information regarding stair layout, code requirements, design methods, guard/handrail
   design, special considerations, and delegated design will be presented.

Each webinar session earns continuing education credit and can be registered for individually. All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.


Certificates of completion will be provided for each webinar attended and will be sent via email in PDF form about five business days after the conclusion of the series.

Senior Associate at CSD Structural Engineers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Mr. Friedman has worked primarily on steel design and analysis for heavy industrial buildings, commercial structures, connection design, and miscellaneous steel related to stairs and ladders. Additionally, his experience in construction engineering projects includes the design of temporary bracing, erection planning, rigging design, heavy lift planning, hurricane contingency plans, and field modifications. He is the author of AISC Design Guide 34 Steel Framed Stairway Design. Mr. Friedman is a licensed Professional Engineer in Wisconsin and a licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois.
