Each webinar session earns continuing education credit and can be registered for individually. All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.


Certificates of completion will be provided for each webinar attended and will be sent via email in PDF form about five business days after the conclusion of the series.


Webinars are presented via GoToWebinar, an easy-to-use application that can be run on most systems and tablets. Paul W. Lander, PhD, MLarch, LEED A.P., has over 35 years of conservation experience, in land, energy, and water, including directing the City of Boulder’s award-winning water conservation program for 16 years. Since 2006, he has taught courses on urban water systems, green infrastructure, western water resources, and world water resources, at the college and professional level. He is an Associate Professor Adjunct in Geography, and Faculty of the professionally-oriented Masters of the Environment Program, both at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He is an accredited LEED professional, holds a Masters in Landscape Architecture from the University of Washington, and a PhD in Geography from the University of Colorado. He has been an active professional, through the American Water Resources Association, American Water Works Association, Universities Council on Water Resources, Alliance for Water Efficiency, USGBC, Lane Community College, OR, and was Chair of the Water Conservation PPN of the American Society of Landscape Architects. He has offered professional trainings and webinars through the University of Florida, University of Colorado, AWWA, ASLA, and Forester University.

Course Title: How to Use Xeriscape in Site Planning

Course Description: This course examines the principles and techniques of xeriscape in site planning, which is the practice of landscaping without irrigation and minimal maintenance.

Learning Objectives:

Learners will be able to identify and explain the principles of Xeriscape, which is the intersection of climate-adapted landscape design and green infrastructure.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to determine site design projects for which Xeriscape applications are appropriate, and they will be able to apply recommended practices.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be describe how climate-adapted landscape design and green infrastructure goals are compatible and how climate-adapted landscape deliver environmental benefits and increase resilience.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to explain how the nature and attitudes toward site watering are changing and how xeriscape designed sites are gaining desirability.
