Each webinar session earns continuing education credit and can be registered for individually. All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. Certificates of completion will be provided for each webinar attended and will be sent via email in PDF form about five business days after the conclusion of the series.

Michael Fiebig, RA, AIA, NCARB, LEED GA, CFPS, CEP

Michael Fiebig holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design degree, and a Master of Architecture degree, both from the University of Colorado. He is a licensed architect in more than a dozen states, providing both design and consulting services to clients throughout the country. Mr. Fiebig is an active member of the American Institute of Architects, as well as an NCARB certificate holder. He is a LEED Green Associate, a Certified Fire Protection Specialist, and a Certified EIFS Industry Professional.  As a forensic architect, Mr. Fiebig provides analysis of standard of care in design and construction projects, helping to evaluate problematic buildings for a variety of purposes. He performs cause and origin analyses of building system installations and failures, including roofing systems, window and door systems, exterior wall cladding systems, waterproofing systems, foundation systems, with a specialization in fire-protection systems and EIFS cladding. As a design architect, Mr. Fiebig provides architectural design services for residential and commercial buildings, and he provides code consulting for clients, specializing in life/safety, egress, and fire protection requirements. He also provides traditional architectural services during construction including special inspections when required by the jurisdiction of authority. Mr. Fiebig’s experience includes dozens of court and deposition testimonies regarding standards of care in professional design, construction, and the built environment.  Mr. Fiebig holds active memberships in many professional organizations including the AIA, NCARB, NFPA, ICC, and others.

Course Title: How to Navigate the New Mass Timber Construction Types in the 2021 IBC

Course Description: This course examines the three types of mass timber construction and how they are addressed in the 2021 International Building Code., including building height and area limitations and safety requirements.

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to differentiate the differences between the five primary construction types in the International Building Code.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to describe the three new sub-designations of Type IV construction in the 2021 IBC: Types IV-A, IV-B, and IV-C.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to reference and comply with the height and area limitations of these new construction types.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to reference and interpret fire safety requirements of these new construction types.
