Each webinar session earns continuing education credit and can be registered for individually. All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. Certificates of completion will be provided for each webinar attended and will be sent via email in PDF form about five business days after the conclusion of the series.

Continuing Education Credit Information

This webinar offers 6.5 PDHs to professional engineers and 6.5 HSW continuing education hours to architects in all states.

Mr. McConnell’s parking design and consulting experience encompasses three decades of work with airports, governmental agencies, military, transit, higher education, resort, healthcare, and corporate clients. He is a member of the National Parking Association’s Parking Consultants Council, ASCE’s Structural Engineering Institute, the International Parking and Mobility Institute, and various regional parking and mobility organizations. Mr. McConnell is well-versed in precast concrete, cast-in-place concrete, and steel construction. His experience includes numerous restoration, parking study, and programming projects. He is also an accredited Parksmart Advisor, able to guide owners through GBCI’s Parksmart certification process for sustainably designed, constructed, and operated parking facilities.

Course Title: Parking Structure Design, Construction and Maintenance

Course Description: This course examines the functional design of parking garages, the structural design of parking garages, and strategies to maintain restore and repair parking structures.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to explain the commercial applications of solar photovoltaic (PV) energy systems, available certifications, and permitting requirements.

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to describe structural requirements for parking garages, including seismic loads and wind resistance loads.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to identify and differentiate parking structure classifications and be able to participate in parking structure planning, including its layout, circulation pattern, and means of vertical communication.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to incorporate into parking structure design drainage, fire prevention and protection, and vehicle and pedestrian egress.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to discuss the benefits and challenges of various types of parking structures, service life expectations, and maintenance and repair planning.
