Each webinar session earns continuing education credit and can be registered for individually. All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion will be provided for each webinar attended and will be sent via email in PDF form about five business days after the conclusion of the series.

Continuing Education Credit Information

This webinar is open to the public and offers 6.0 PDHs to Illinois professional land surveyors, including 4.0 PDHs in statutes and rules that regulate professional land surveyors and surveyors and 2.0 PDHs in professional conduct.

Land surveyors seeking continuing education credit in other states will be able to claim the hours earned at this seminar, in some cases. Refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Completion certificates will be awarded to participants who complete this event, respond to the online prompts, and earn a passing score (80%) on the quiz that follows the presentation (multiple attempts allowed).


Russell W. Olsen

Senior Survey Manager with Gasperec Elberts Consulting

Mr. Olsen is Senior Survey Manager with Gasperec Elberts Consulting in Downers Grove, Illinois. Mr. Olsen has more than 30 years of experience as a professional land surveyor in the Chicago metropolitan area. He is currently licensed as a land surveyor in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Texas. He has worked on various projects including commercial, residential, transportation, institutional and municipal projects. Mr. Olsen has a thorough understanding of principles, practices and procedures for the completion of ALTA surveys, topographic surveys, boundary surveys, legal descriptions and plats of easement. He has completed numerous Illinois Department of Transportation land acquisition and topographic surveys; DuPage County Transportation Department and Cook County Highway Department plats of highway; and various other ALTA surveys, plats of easements and legal descriptions. Mr. Olsen has held positions as chief of survey, project manager, land survey manager and GIS project manager throughout his career. These positions have provided him with the varying experiences of construction layout, topographic surveying, boundary verification and land conveyance practices. His responsibilities have also changed depending on the specific projects and client needs. Mr. Olsen is experienced in house line surveying services for various homebuilders. These houseline surveys include permit plats, foundation surveys, grading surveys and final closing surveys. Mr. Olsen recently earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Science and is currently enrolled in the University of Maine Graduate School, studying Surveying Engineering.
