Webinar Instructions

Each webinar session earns continuing education credit and can be registered for individually. All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion will be provided for each webinar attended and will be sent via email in PDF form about five business days after the conclusion of the series.

Webinars are presented via GoToWebinar, an easy-to-use application that can be run on most systems and tablets. Instructions and login information will be provided in an email sent close to the date of the webinar. It is highly recommended that you download, install and test the application before the webinar begins by clicking on the link in the email.

Continuing Education Credit Information

This webinar offers 5.0 PDHs to professional engineers and 5.0 HSW continuing education hours to architects in all states.

WZG Structural Engineers, Limerick, PA

Mr. Schaffer is the associate p rincipal at WZG Structural Engineers and has 18 years of experience in structural analysis and design throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. He is a graduate of Penn State University Architectural Engineering program with an emphasis in Structural Engineering and has project experience in commercial, higher education, industrial, pharmaceutical, hospital/life care and multi-family residential markets. In 2012, he was selected by Consulting Specifying Engineer Magazine as a Top 40 Under 40 for his achievements in structural engineering.

Course Description: This course examines structural steel design theory, structural steel flexual and compression members, structural steel tension members and connection design, combined forces, combined loads, ans structural steel applications.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to discuss structural steel design theory, design objectives, loads and load combinations, and ASD versus LRFD loads.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able identify and describe structural steel flexural and compression members, as was well as their design criteria for the inherent forces that act on them.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able identify and describe structural steel tension members and the forces and loads on them and their connections, and learners will be able to identify and describe bolted connections and welded connections and failures.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to discuss combined forces and combined loads common to steel structures, and they will be able to discuss steel applications for commercial and industrial buildings, residences, parking structures and bridges.
